SNOW!

I love snow.
Maybe I should say, I used to love snow.  it's pretty and fun to play in.  but i got stuck at work last night.  let me explain.  all of the rookies sent out emails at 3pm saying that they were leaving for the day as there was a projected snow storm moving in.  heh.  WHAT?!  are you serious?!  there is work to be done - how dare you.  needless to say, 5 pm hit and it got dark.  next thing I know, there were 8 inches in the parking lot, covering my pathetic front wheel drive toyota corolla.  i spent about a half hour digging out my car...hmm, well, more like kicking snow out of the way.  i did not make it out of my parking spot.  luckily, there were several of my collegues who were also stuck in the office and we chatted for awhile joking about working through the night.  well, luckily our firm put us up at the hotel across the street to stay the night....so today....i am wearing the same outfit that i wore yesterday, my eyes and contacts are dry, and i'm hungry.  i feel so nappy and last night i asked the front desk for a complementary toothbrush.  i think it may have had 2 bristles on it.  ugh.  i will be digging out my car later today.

what a great friday

It's Friday brahs.  But today was a good day, well, i am still at work, but relatively "good."  why is that you say?  ok, first thing's first, last night i saw country strong and that in itself was just a booster to get me through today.  fridays during busy season are special.  not only do we get to wear jeans and flannel, but today in particular was dunk'n donuts day.  i def licked my fingers of some of that glaZe.  the coffee was outstanding.  next...i decided to buy sugarland tickets on the second they went on sale (coming to merriweather PP in May with Little Big Town and Matt Nathanson).
got some dang good seats or should i say standing room spac-es.  Ok, then the best thing of all, i got this great email from my soccer coach at Messiah.  great for several reasons.  first being the fact that he took the time to write us (the MWS alumni and I was first on the list) on his update on life email.  sooooo, i took a time out at work and decided to respond with an update on MY life and even better, he responded to my response email...and then this cycle continued amidst some LOL moments.  shooot, i have to work tomorrow.

I'm going to see the movie on Thursday - yesss.  Hopefully, it's better than the ratings, but i'm pretty sure that it will be bc tim mcGraw is in it.  and the ratings only criticized GP - duh.

Loungewear

I'm glad it's a Friday night, because tomorrow's Saturday and the Ravens play...and i can wear sweatpants to work tomorrow.  yessss.  btw, i love every single look at hush-uk.com.  too bad everything is overpriced and in UK.  i wanna wear loungewear everyday, specially when you can be stylish like this:
oh and those slippers are super cute.
Here's a zoom:
so, Yes i have to work tomorrow and NO, busy season is NOT my favorite.  although, i guarantee that someone will show up in slippers and purple sketchy flannel pajama pants with a thin t with like crusty stains on it.  yeah and i'll laugh in their face.  do you wear that to work?  i'm mean aren't i...

My Year in Cities 2010

So maybe I should have done this on 1.1.11. or 12.31.10. But I didn't.  I was inspired by an semi-old post.  I spent 1 or more nights in the following cities in 2010 (this should be lame):
Baltimore, MD
Jarrettsville, MD
Cambridge, MD
Deep Creek Lake, MD
Seaside Park, NJ
Englewood, NJ
New York, NY
Outer Banks, NC
Norwalk, CT
Elizabethtown, PA
Philadelphia, PA
Grantham, PA
I was only in 10 different places and only on the East Coast.
Lame.  I am hopeful for 2011.

Glorious Day

Glorious Day is a great hymn - but aren't they all.  I love when an old hymn is transformed into a new song...same lyrics, but a slight change in the tune.  love.love the remake by Casting Crowns on their recent album, Until the Whole World Hears.
so good. so powerful. so true.
One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the light shined among us
His glory revealed
Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day, oh glorious day
One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him
From rising again
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine
OH,GLORIOUS DAY

Recycle your vespa

I recently started to recycle.  Check out this sweet Vespa rocker!
Um, I want this...and a Vespa and a cute matching helmet.

Love this lady's double belt action.
These wood lamps are cute.
What if I wore a chain and rings as big as Kanye's...do you think I could pull it off?

Ok, wait, how about this.
Busy season day 3.  Can it be done?
I'm starving, but i love the intensity at the gym.  yeah dawg.

New years' non-goals...OK and resolutions

I guess when a new year begins, you are supposed to come up with a list of resolutions for the new year.  Maybe not a list, maybe just one...i bet the most popular new years resolution is losing weight or perhaps a generic "spend more time with family or friends."  These are all good...they are.  and I hope that I am able to do these things too in 2011.  But I was recently inspired by this gal's non-goals...very creative - love the idea so much I will share my own - actually mine weren't necessarily things i love about myself, but i guess things i gave myself credit for doing in 2010:
  1. Blogging:  Something about blogging is very refreshing.  It's like sharing thoughts and slightly diary-ish, but not.  or maybe just venting on paper.  I think since September, I've blogged at least twice a week, if not every day.  and i like random thoughts and fragments.  and talking slang, but not ghetto.  and putting a lowercase i instead of I.  Horray.
  2. Fill the DVR every week:  well, almost.  I will continue to watch as much TV as I want.  That's why I pay for the bloody cable box.
  3. That girl praised herself for brushing her teeth every night before she went to bed, so I will too.  If you don't you are nast. foul.
  4. Hug my little niece often:   ok, well maybe this one doesn't count bc how can you resist this little ball of cuteness?!
  5. Tweet.  I like Twitter alot.  and i brought it back this year.
  6. Drink coffee every day.  This is a good habit and don't tell me otherwise.
  7. Wear sweatpants often.  This is also a good habit.  Although slightly sloppy, they are sooo worth it.
  8. Not obsesssing about germs.  I can't stand people that do the paper towl thing in the bathroom and don't touch things with germs on them.  Get over it.  Only the strong survive.
Yo don't stress - Here are my goals for 2011.
  1. Wear my hair down more often.  This is bold.  I never wear my hair down bc, first of all - so annoying.  secondly, it takes way too long to manage in the morning bf work and I'd rather get to work 10 minutes early.  third, when i wear my hair down at work, so many people comment, oooooo, your hair is so long.  what are you supposed to say?!  yep. the end. or nope. liar. or thanks, but not really. or duuhh. retard.
  2. Paint my nails one time this year.  I think the last time I did was when I was interviewing for a job after college. But it was only the clear stuff.  Maybe it wil be my toenails, maybe fingernails *gasp* why am i saying this?!
  3. Compete in a race.  This one is pending a healthy ankle.  I hope, I pray, but only time will tell.  I really wanna do a triathalon.  Even though I suck at swimming.
  4. Travel this summer.  I want to travel outside of the USofA.  Any good ideas?  Anyone wanna come?
  5. Cook more often.  and by this i mean, wholesome meals.  like fish and vegetables or venison and couscous.  not egg-white breakfast sandwiches every freaking night, and morning, and afternoon.
  6. Make more of an effort to visit friends and family.  I have no excuse for not.
  7. Play more scrabble.  I am addicted to online scrabble.  scrabble is an educational game though.  it is.
  8. Drink more water.  I am dehydrated all the time.  Let's change this for 2011.
  9. Go see a movie in the theatres.  I cannot remember the last movie that I have seen in the theatres.  I never go.  I used to fall asleep.  It is kinda a waste of money, but I always see the movie previews and say, i wanna see that.  and then. i. never. do.
  10. Complete P90X...again.  it's fierce!  I dare you to try.
What are your New Year's Resolutions?  hny.

2010 Year in Review

3 more days until 2011...yikes!  I can't believe I'm saying this, but where did 2010 go?  Let's review and remember good and bad times of O-ten.  January, February, March - who knows what really goes on in those months.  My life was humdrum and I lived at work.  Ahhh, but when April rolls around, I'm a new woman, I mean girl, especially when I see all of my Messiah teammates on alumni game day.  {btw, how is that even fair? best team in the country, fit, practicing every day, vs. older, slower, once a year-has beens}  In May - USA all the way (!) for World Cup 2010, but as expected they failed miserably.  {I started my quest of getting ripped in 90 days.}  In June, my church softball team was o-so-close to winning the annual church softball tournament.  My niece also celebrated her 1st birthday.  One of my roommates at the time moved out in July {tear}.  I was very sad to see her go, but didn't mind the cats going with her.  yesssss.  August always begins with a great week of soccer camp at Messiah.  I get to train with a bunch of champions!  Shortly after, I finished up P90X and was ripped - I'm talking washboard abs, girlfriend!  yessss.  September was a very eventful month.  I went to the Jersey Shore for a mini vaca.  My car broke down, so I bought a new car.  I went to my first NFL game in New York (Jets v. Ravens opening day).  I ruined my ankle and September started a 3 or 4 month period of lying on the couch and watching TV.  Luckily, I started coaching soccer again at Loyola University - the women's club team...and the best yet, I started blogging again.  yessss.  October - the Phillies failed to make the World Series, but I loved every moment of the playoffs {including Doc Halliday's no-hitter}.  yessss.  In November sadly, I said goodbye to 2 roommates, but excitedly welcomed 2 new ones.  yessss.  Sheesh - December is almost over now.  Messiah men's soccer won an NCAA championship (AGAIN) and MWS was robbed of theirs.  The Phillies signed Cliff Lee.  Yessss.  There you have it...in a nut shell.  I need a solid and challenging list for nineteen ninety...*Gasp*  I mean, TWO THOUSAND ELEVEN!

Merry Christmas!

You prolly thought that I wasn't gonna post.  Today is Christmas 2010 and it was the greatest day ever.  Christmas was at my house this year and come on, my house is awesome, no?  yeah, you know.  My sister and brother-in-law made dinner, which consisted of a coriander and fennel glazed ham, mashed carrots and parsnips, and garlic green beans with pine nuts {plus salad and bread.}  AND key lime pie bars.  This was preceded by some pear-prosciutto apps.  ohhhh, yeah.

Tasted soooo good on my lips.  I also got to see my niece who is such a cutie!!  Presents were nice, but it was great just to have a nice laid back conversation with my family {i.e. talk about the Phillies and the E-A-G-L-E-S!}  I heard we are getting some snow tonight/tomorrow - woOOO!  yessss.  btw, if you must know, I did end up getting a sweet new coffee maker and some new dishes +$.  blah.  but those things make me happy...and then I decided to re-organize my cabinets.

Thankful - Josh Groban

I've been listening to Josh Groban's Christmas Album, Noel - AMAZING!  Love the number 6 track - Thankful.  The lyrics are very powerful and it makes me stop and reflect on how God has truly blessed me with my family, friends, health, a house, job, car, etc., etc...WOW, there's so much to be thankful for!
THANKFUL
-Josh Groban
Some days we forget to look around us
Some days we can't see the joy that surrounds us
So caught up inside ourselves
We take when we should give
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for.

Look beyond ourselves
There's so much sorrow
It's way too late to say I'll cry tomorrow
Each of us must find our truth
We're so long overdue
So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And every day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though we all can still do more
There's so much to be thankful for.

Even with our differences
There is a place we're all connected
Each of us can find each other's light.

So for tonight we pray for
What we know can be
And on this day we hope for
What we still can't see
It's up to us to be the change
And even though this world needs so much more
THERE'S SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR!

I hope that this Christmas season finds you surrounded by those you love.  May God bless you and your family in the coming year.
Jesus, Savior - thank you for your birth and sacrifice.
Merry Christmas everyone!  {dreaming of a white Christmas}

Gingerbread

I love gingerbread anything...like those gingersnaps.  the tang of the ginger is outstanding.  I'd also love to make a gingerbread house, not really to eat it, just to design and decorate.  If I wasn't an accountant I think I'd be an architect.  I've always loved modern design.  I'm not talking about those 4 sided boring gingerbread houses with the gay colored gumdrops and candy canes.  I want a modern slick lookin' pad.  Yo - check these out!

...these are also pretty sweet.  little gingerninjas!
Hump day overRRR.  Heading to the gym to do some damage.  I pretty much ate yogurt and lettuce today.  Yessss.

Cliff Lee is BACK.

This morning when I got to work, I did the usual.  Check my email, daily blogs, twitter, and news.  I was shocked to see the greatest news of all time.  WHAT!?!  Cliff Lee back in Philly?  Yessss...ssssss.  I miss my Phillies.  I immediately retweeted about 15 Philly news tweets.  Even better is the fact that he turned down a more lucrative deal with the Yankees and he signed a 5 year deal.  New rotation:  Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Hamels.  Legit baby.  (Sorry O's fans.)  This is a good day even though I feel like crap.  Cliff Lee AND the Biggest Loser finale...and it's sunny outside-all in the same day.  It's like Christmas without the presents or family or being off work.

...btw, how awesome was DeSean Jackson's celebration on Sunday night?  so awesome.

Wood briefcase? - monEY...Literally - it's $400, but schwweeeet.

A productive day

Today was a very productive day.  This is the first time that i've gotten a REAL Christmas tree - Home Depot baby.  It smells so good! and this is also the first time that I have ever decorated for Christmas at my house.  {Yes, I tend to be a grinch...or maybe just lazy.  seriously, who wants to spend time to decorate when you have to spend the time later putting everything away.}  Anyways, I spent all day decorating my tree and did a little baking and then cooking.  I did some laundry.  I did some cleaning.  I did some shopping.  I wrapped presents.  I listed to Christmas music.  woo.  I'm awesome.

It has been really cold.  I guess that's normal for December though.  There are def some things that I try to enjoy during the cold winter months.
  • snowboarding.  I don't get to go much, but I DO love catching the freshies.  Thrilling.
  • boots.  I got some sweet leather Frye boots last this past summer and they keep my feet so warm.
  • soup.  I eat soup all the time, but a warm bowl of soup in the winter is yay.
  • chunky sweaters.  I love the look.  Love.
  • my bed.  mmm.  I never wanna get out.
Today, my bro and niece came over.  She is so cute.  Give her 2 years and this will be her:

Soccer Powerhouse Emerges From Pennsylvania Hills

(ok, I lied...one more thing...)
Last year Messiah soccer was featured in USA Today.  This year...the New York Times! well, NYT soccer blog.  Sweet.  "How do we do it? It’s the intangibles"

Real quick

So I've been away this week thus far on a business trip in Connecticut and I don't have time right now for a real post, but I just wanted to share one thing...Don't you hate when people call you "hun"?  I do.  esp. when they are 10 times younger than you.

Epic Fail

A few months ago I shared some goals/wishes that I would like to accomplish (or see happen).  Well, none of them happened.  I'll have to think of a new list.

NCAA D3 WSOC Final Four - Finger Lakes Times previews the semis

Good Luck MWS! {playing for their 3rd straight NCAA National Title}  You guys are amazing!
The Finger Lakes Times {William Smith College area paper} reports that it will be a tough feat for WS College to come away with a win.

Here's their Messiah Soccer scouting report:
No one wins 42 consecutive matches and goes unbeaten in 75 straight by accident. The Falcons trot out Division I-caliber talent at most positions on the field, starting in back. Goalkeeper Autumn Reilly has 20 shutouts to her credit while playing every minute this year. Katie Hoffsmith, a starter two years ago when the same teams met, anchors a defense that has conceded three goals in 23 outings. Fellow back-liner Kelsey Gorman is an attack-minded defender. Messiah’s unusual style centers on midfielder Alex Brandt, a transfer from Division I Central Florida in her first year with the Falcons. Fellow midfielder Amanda Naeher, who popped in a goal against the Herons two years ago, leads the nation in scoring; her 107 career goals are eighth in NCAA Division III history. Senior forward Erin Hench, last year’s Division III Player of the Year, succumbed to a knee injury following the Falcons’ third game. Messiah has barely missed a beat, as Corinne Wulf and Alicia Frey have combined for 32 goals and 24 assists.
I couldn't have summed it up any better. Looking forward to celebrating later with the team. {Btw, the men's team just beat UW-Wisc 4-1 and advanced to the final!} Why am I not in TEXAS! Dumb. job.

Lady Gaga Broach

Yazbukey Lady Gaga Broach.  Yeaaahahhh.  It's actually plexiglass and I would totally buy this and proudly wear it if it wasn't $160.
Then again, what a weirdo!

...but she is nominated for 6 Grammy's and her new album comes out in February 2011.  She also has a sold out tour in Europe! {but still a weirdo}

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

It's December!

Wow, today is December 1, 2010, as in only a month until the new year and a month until my life ceases to be what it is today.  {I wish it was April 15th right now.}  OMGosh, that also means 25 days until Christmas!  I haven't gotten any presents for people yet (except for the gift for my parents that my sister already got - yessss).  I really need to get some of that done.  The last two years I waited until Christmas Eve to attempt all of my Christmas shopping.  Poor choices were made those days.  But, it def will not get done this weekend...I am going to visit some college teammates in PA to watch the NCAA final four games (online).  YAY.  MWS is playing at 7:30 (8:30 EST) on Friday and then later on Saturday if they win the semis.

Check out these sweet sculptures from Peter Gronquist:

Muhaaaaha.  You know you want one.
