Hot off the press

Fall to a lot of people is great because of football.  and i always get asked about football, like the NFL, fantasy football, etc. - i even play a little flag football in the fall.  but my answer will always be...football season is soccer season, son.  so while i'm an eagles and ravens fan, i know nothing about their players and i really don't care about the games, unless it means going to the latest and greatest party on a Sunday afternoon.  My focus remains on MWS during those fall months.  i follow the website like a hawk and well, whatta you know...they finally updated it.  Look!  or wait, L@@K as ebay sellers put it, new team and new players.  Yessss.  too bad they are not in Bmore this year.  I hope i can make it out to a few this season, but i seem to have a lot on the sched already this year.

First of all, I'd like to apologize (to my 3 followers) for my lack of blog postings.  my b.  so sorry.  but i do post on tumblr and pinterest, so that kinda counts.

Summertime is so sweet.  specially when the WWC is here!  USA hasn't won since 1999.  I mean, really, how could you forget B. Chastain's epic pk to win it for us.  Let me remind you:

Fiday Night Lights

I just got netflix and i was looking for a good series to marathon.  you know, i cut cable the other day, so it's annoying when you can't find anything to watch.  Luckily, one of my fave shows of all time is Friday Night Lights. 

Unfortunately, the last season (5) is airing now, so i can't watch the show in its entirely right now....but i'd figure that i'd start watching it from the beginning!  i love this show mainly because i can relate so well with it...the thoughts, motivations, passions, team, friends, love, emotion - it's all here.  it is quite awesome.  for anyone that has ever played a sport, this show will touch you deeply.  (and for those who have never experienced playing sports competitively, the dedication and emotion of the experience extends beyond just the physical, it is honestly indescribable).  friends, i am 7 episodes deep in season 1 and i have to admit that i at least tear up if not cry during each of the shows.  Arg.  i'm sad that it is near the end, but hopefully a similarly great show like this will follow...and not like this one. 

Right now...

I am satisfied.  I just ate at Miss Shirley's (with a froomate - i.e. future roommate) and am ready for a late Saturday morning nap.  listening to Adele on Pandora and hm... emailing/fbing/blogging/shopping/browsing/surfing.

Last night, I went to the Phillies game and it was a good one.  Polanco hit a grand slam and big dog Roy Halliday pitched a shutout through 7.  dumb relievers let in 5 in the 8th but at least kept it interesting.  i booed.  But then I decided to drive home late last night, which led to stopping at a rest stop for a nap at 130.  Don't worry i got home safely.  i def wish i was here.

i did the shoulders and arms P90X workout earlier today.  i presume i'll be rather sore tomorrow.  then hittn philly for the game later for the start of the weekend.  yay.

I'm watching the USA Women's national soccer team play Japan.  They are dominating.  They just scored. I did not realize that USA has not won a Women's World Cup since 1999.  Remember Brandi, Mia, Julie and company?  Mind blowing that it's been so long, because they still seem so dominant.  I'll admit, i've been kinda out of the loop, but very excited to watch them this summer.

Abby, please make it happen this summer, you beast.

I heard May is bike month

The month of may is apparently bike month.  don't you wish you could just cruise into work like this? 

on the other hand i guess my back would start to hurt and prolly my butt.  those 15 hr days staring at a computer screen would totally suck.  anyways, i don't think that its possible to bike to work...just a little too far and i'm a little bit too much of a novice to be traveling on slightly busier routes for a cruiser.

last night i legit lol'd at fantasy factory ep.1 of season 4 on my dvr.  yep the one where dyrdek gets pummeled by a real tiger.  + BB & JB on FF = $$!

last night, i did a lil p90x.  slightly sore, but like i said, i only did a lil and not the whole workout.  for some reason, the dvd gets stuck around 5/8ths of the way through.  fail.

planning a sweet trip to NYC.  well. not soon. in July.  but hotels and bus tix are booked.

i would really like to get a pair of beats by dr dre.  they are sick.

i hate dress shopping

Thank God today is Thursday.  one more lovely work day (and of course the rest of today) till the weekend (Phillies, Flyers, and Glide).  hum.  and tonight i get to play some soccer with the best.  mws - deuh -  they are the bomb.com.  i'm ready to get dominated.

Last night I went dress shopping.  remember, i need a dress for my brother's wedding and 2 others.  boo.  i.hate.dress.shopping.

i seriously forgot how sore you get at the start of P90X.  like super sore right now.  i'm gonna have trouble tonight washing my hair.  maybe i just won't and be sweaty.  i am doing a mix of workouts right now with Insanity and P90X.  both are difficult.  both are easy.  both are extreme.  i must be extreme.

Thank God it's Good Friday...especially this Good Friday.  Tomorrow's GF is particularly special - it falls after April 15th and therefore, my firm is c.l.o.s.e.d.  rejoice.  did you realize that this only happens once every 7 years?...But really, they are all special.  Truly GF is more than just getting off from work 1/7 yrs.  Rather it is the day our Lord was crucified for you and I.  The day in which Jesus died for the sins of the world.  The day that He became sin for us.  "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities.  Upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace and with His stripes we are healed."  (Isaiah 53:5)  It is very hard to fully grasp (and even beyond comprehension) the love that God has for us, the grace that He shows us everyday and the blessings He has given to me personally, despite failure every day.  Friends, He died and was buried, but thank God, we serve a risen Savior!  May we reflect on His sacrifice, burial and resurrection, and the salvation He offers this long weekend.  Happy Easter!

I'll admit it, i miss LC.  dude, but i think they are all trying a little too hard.  like seriously. 

first, there's audrina - did you know she has her own show now on VH1?  And Lo...Whitney, well we kinda already knew about her clothing line (i.e. The City)  but she also has a book and is hosting this show.  Yikes!

Brunch

Don't you love brunch?  i do.  in particular i'm a huge omelette fan.  I was reading my new issue of House Beautiful (yeah - for some reason i still get it) and i saw a feature for Clinton St. Baking Co.'s (semi) new cookbook. 

i ate here one random day last year.  it was so good - but we did wait for a table for around an hour.  and i remember that their buscuits and jam tasted so good on my lips.

I wanna omelette and pancakes...and buscuits.  and french toast and coffee and orange juice.  and ohhh, eggs sunny side up and waffles with berries or maybe just some homemade syrup.  those breakfast sandwiches are also good with bacon or ham.

who's in.  i want brunch.

My Phillies are off to a great start to the season.

The Flyers are up 2-1 in the playoffs.

and the Sixers...well, they made the playoffs.  They will lose.

Also, yesterday was the Boston Marathon.  I wish i could've watched it live.  my friend-this is the elite of the elite of running speciments.  The male winner time was 2:03:59, the unofficial record.  foul.nast.sick.ew.  he couldve run 2 full marathons in the time it took me to jog 26.2. 

oh but wait, he is Kenyan.

Alumni weekend and new at Glide Surf Shop

I am excited.(!!).

Tomorrow is the annual MWS alumni game.  legit.  we get to play the best team in the country!  ok, that's the least of my excitement.  i'm even more excited to see all of my former teammates and other alumni coming back to support the program, team and game.  This program is so special.  "One in Heart and Mind".  it's been awhile since i've blogged much about my team, but they are in the offseason (and training hard).  i am motivated every time i think about the efforts that i used to give every spring season.  wish i was young and well again, but i had my chance.  now, a new chance for new players and a new team.  that is equally exciting!

Today is beautiful! (as was yesterday).  unfortunately, tomorrow's weather is suppose to blow.  like rain and wind and coldness here in the mid-atlantic.  boooo.  the game will most likely be played on the turf field.  booo again.  Actually, i think playing on turf will give our alumni team a chance.  first of all, the field is much much shorter and smaller.  Second, who plays well on turf anyways?  this might set the current team a little off their game.  Lastly, the surface does not lie.  i can get a good bounce on that volley to score a sweet goal. 

I need a dress for my brother's wedding.  Ugh.  I hate dress shopping.  maybe i'll just wear sweatpants with a jogging blazer??  why?  is it bc it is made for jogging?  yeah, that would look amazing with a pair of short shorts coupled with a sports bra.  and my new Nike Free's.

but trainers.  since you know, i started insanity today.  not insane on the first day, but it is pretty difficult.  i think what makes it easier is that it is shorter than my normal workout.  i think it's much harder to go for a hard 45 min run.  but i'll be pretty sore tomorrow espesh in the inner thigh region.  oww.  waa.  oww.

Tomorrow, i'm going to test my foot.  i'll be going for a jog in the morning.  in addition, i plan on going on a crazy diet.  ok, not crazy, pretty normal, but i went to costco today and went crazy.  fresh fruit and vegetables, salad stuff.  quinoa.  naked juice.  this morning, i found this women's nike vid...so sweet.  i'm making myself ____________.  hmm.
